A homepage offers high visibility as a gateway to a website, it is often a place where everyone in the company wants a stake. Because of this, I think it's important to consider corporate and departmental objectives, market position and data to drive the framework of content / design / UX strategy.

My process:

  1. Discovery: stakeholder interviews, metrics, competitor analysis

  2. Analysis: evaluate research gathered from discovery phase, develop personas/user stories, extract objectives and insights

  3. Design: sketches, wireframes

Design Objectives:

  • Articulate what ServiceNow does

  • Evaluate content strategy to differentiate from competitors

  • Evaluate importance of marquee - style and position

  • Find a way to refresh content

  • Engage users on the homepage before redirecting them elsewhere

Design strategies:

  • Simplify the experience

  • More white space to create content chunking

  • Less content per panel

  • Parallax interaction could help engage visitors

  • Content should be focused on the benefits of the platform/ServiceNow, not individual products. This will also appeal to a wider audience

  • Use appropriate font styling/hierarchy to attract attention to important content
