IPSY Design Exercise
The goal of this exercise was to design a landing page comp for a new product offering — the IPSY Glam Bag Plus. IPSY wanted to convey the value of the Glam Bag Plus featuring 5 full-size beauty products for $25, with a $120 retail value. The main objective was to acquire new users to this subscription. Copy was not provided. Time invested: 2-3 days.
My Solution
(THE AFTER)
Existing Product Page on IPSY.com
(THE BEFORE)
Process:
Research: product, brand, competitive analysis, audience, business objectives, existing content, interviews
Ideate: explore solutions, user flow, sitemap, brand/UX improvements, sketch, brainstorm, write copy
Design: wireframe, mockup
Test & Launch: prep for delivery, submit
Measure: collect feedback for continuous improvement
Strategy:
Clear value prop and articulation of product for first time visitors who haven’t heard of IPSY
Primary CTA and copy above the fold
Copy and layout convey value / create a sense of urgency, while visuals highlight product quality
Enough information for prospects to feel they can make a confident decision on whether to subscribe
More immersive experience with larger font-sizes, full-bleed imagery, white space, portfolio color palette to brand product tiers, updated navigation is more visually seamless with content
Improved user experience builds trust and makes users more likely to provide payment information
De-emphasized IPSY LIVE call-to-action to secondary position
Setting the stage to differentiate between Glam Bag tiers across product pages (this could be achieved via unique hero product imagery specific to each tier, portfolio color palette distinction in headlines, unique iconography)
Navigation better articulates / emotes the IPSY brand and provides user with clear context of where they are and where they can go; these changes will enhance credibility, help eliminate confusion and drive improved performance
